Jian Hong's caretakers recently told her that her "forever family" had found her. Afterward, they had her sit down and draw a picture of herself at home with her new family--at last. The orphanage scanned and sent Jian Hong's drawing to us today. We will treasure it always.
Just look at her upraised hands--she has drawn herself looking so happy! Steve is thrilled to be standing next to her--he's also fairly pleased at having some color in his hair again! I am, of course, completely blown away by my first gift from my daughter--I cannot get over the detail and the obvious level of effort that went into it. We are all having fun joking about the fact that Misha and I have gray hair! We're also offering a prize to the first person to guess what that red blob is that is over David's head (we'll have to wait and ask Jian Hong herself).
Here is Jian Hong's drawing. The writing says, "In my home there is a father, a mother, and two older brothers. Together we are one family."
